About Coach Across America :

Coach Across America, is a national service organization that recruits, trains, and supports coaches to transform youth, programs, and communities. Coach Across America is an AmeriCorps program, helps youth across the country succeed by harnessing the power of sport to improve their mental and physical well-being. Diverse cohorts of Coach Across America Coach AmeriCorps members provide sports-based mentorship to youth in schools and community-based organizations to ensure youth are equipped with the skills to achieve their full potential on and off of the playing field.

What youll do :

As an Coach Across America Coach AmeriCorps member, you will coach teams and / or P.E. classes for elementary to high school age youth. You will be trained on how to become a Sports Based Youth Development coach to positively impact youth mental and physical well-being. You will monitor youth progress and work with program and school staff on sport practice planning, recess facilitation, PE class instruction, and small group spaces. Coaches are placed across the city of New Orleans in schools and afterschool programs.

Job Summary The First Tee Coach is responsible for guiding and coaching young people to become responsible future citizens and committed, active golfers. Positively impacting their lives through the First Tee Program by using lesson plans and the First Tee Coach Building Blocks.

Time Commitment Half-Time Coach with a One-Year Service Commitment of 900 Hours. Weekly schedule varies depending on scheduled class(es) and season : averages 25-30 hours per week.

Roles and Responsibilities Maintain a professional and cordial attitude towards coaches, volunteers, participants and their parents Become proficient in the delivery of First Tee lesson plans Model the First Tee Nine Core Values and the First Tee Code of Conduct Maintain consistent and regular attendance Commence and end scheduled classes on time Conduct First Tee Certification process with youth participants.

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident (Authorization to work in the U.S. is not sufficient.)
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
• Have served no more than three terms in an AmeriCorps state or national program
• Complete and pass a background check
