Portland Community College is seeking a qualified instructor to teach APR 200B - OSHA 30 for Pre-Apprenticeship at our OMIC (Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Center) campus in Scappoose, Oregon. This course is part of the Pre-Apprenticeship program and provides comprehensive safety training in accordance with OSHA standards.

Our Program and Who We Are Looking For

Essential Requirements :

  • Five (5) years minimum of construction or manufacturing , experience
  • OSHA 511 Course Completion : Successful completion of OSHA 511 Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry
  • OSHA 501 Course Completion : Successful completion of OSHA 501 Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry
  • Current OSHA Authorized Trainer Status (re-certification required every four years)

Teaching Requirements

  • Deliver comprehensive OSHA 30-hour construction safety curriculum for pre-apprenticeship students
  • Ensure students meet OSHA certification requirements and attendance standards
  • Coordinate with instructors of corequisite courses (APR 200A and APR 200C)
  • Maintain accurate attendance and grade records in compliance with OSHA requirements
  • Create an inclusive and engaging learning environment for pre-apprenticeship students
  • Stay current with OSHA regulations and construction industry practices
  • Support students in their preparation for apprenticeship programs
  • Participate in department meetings and professional development activities
  • Additional PCC Requirements for APR Courses :

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the subject area
  • Current approved license or Journey Card in a construction trade; OR
  • Certificate of Completion from a Pre-Apprenticeship Program approved by the Oregon State Apprenticeship and Training Council
  • Meet PCC instructor qualification standards for Trades and Industries program
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous teaching or training experience in construction safety or pre-apprenticeship programs
  • Experience working with pre-apprenticeship students and adult learners
  • Advanced OSHA certifications beyond the minimum requirements
  • Journey-level certification in construction trades
  • Familiarity with Oregon State Apprenticeship and Training Council standards
  • Experience with diverse student populations

    Instructors shall have earned required academic credentials at a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution having the equivalent of regional accreditation.     These positions are included in the bargaining agreement between Portland Community College and the Portland Community College Faculty Federation Employees.

    Part-time Faculty Compensation at PCC

    Newly hired Part-time Faculty at PCC will generally start at Step 1 of the current salary schedule.

    Hourly rates are determine based upon the type of course taught (Lecture, Lab, or Lecture / Lab).
