American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Acute Epilepsy Monitoring unit, requiring Level 1 trauma experience and a current AZ or compact RN license.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position is in a hospital-based Neuro Acute Epilepsy Monitoring unit with telemetryUnit features 48 beds, including 10 epilepsy specialty roomsTypical patient population includes epilepsy, brain tumors, subdural hematoma, TBI, scoliosis surgeries, and other neurology casesNurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 4 on both day and night shiftsRequired to work 12-hour night shifts (7 pm to 7 am), including 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks and 2 out of 4 major holidaysPossible floating to other Med / Surg or Tele unitsUses Cerner EMR systemVentilation support involves BiPAP, managed by RTSelf-scheduling is availableCharge RN and resource RN present on all shiftsDaily responsibilities include neurological assessments, management of patients undergoing Trend EEG monitoring, and care for a wide range of acute neuro casesDay 1 orientation includes a pass / fail simulation lab evaluating sterile technique and core clinical skillsStaff must adhere to strict appearance standards, including natural hair color and no facial piercings; men must be clean-shaven for fit testingTeam is supported by nurse aides (PCTs), pharmacy, and respiratory therapy available 24 / 7Scrub color is steel (Grey's Anatomy / steel)First-time travelers may be considered if all requirements are metCandidates may not have been directly employed with any related health system in the past yearTravelers must have their own transportation\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact (NLC) RN license required at time of considerationMust have at least 2 years of RN experience including Level 1 trauma experienceCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications requiredMust pass a dysrhythmia (Relias) exam before acceptance, with a maximum of two attemptsMust pass a sterile technique skills assessment for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on day 1 of orientationTwo recent professional references required, including at least one supervisorMust reside at least 50 miles from the facility as determined by driver’s licenseStrong critical thinking and neuro assessment skills requiredBSN, CMSRN, or Tele certification preferred but not required\n Benefits\n
