Job Description

American Traveler seeks an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery night shift role requiring an IL RN license, ACLS, BLS, NRP, and fetal monitoring certification.

Responsibilities

Work in a hospital Labor & Delivery unit with 18 beds

Night shifts available as 3x12 or 4x12 (1800-0630)

Patient population includes antepartum, high-risk antepartum, laboring mothers, and postpartum patients, with less than 100 births per month

Level I nursery and LDRP setting with couplet care, multiple births, and both vaginal and C-section deliveries

Use of Cerner EMR is required

Floating is required, including to pediatrics and affiliate hospitals as needed

No on-call or weekend requirements

Responsibilities include triage, labor support, assisting with deliveries, circulating for C-sections, postpartum and newborn care, and patient education

Practice in an acute care hospital setting with Magnet recognition and Level I trauma designation

Scrubs are provided for this role

Parking permit is provided free of charge

Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the contract

Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO may be approved

First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Community hospital experience is preferred

Requirements

Active IL RN license in hand or with ETA to apply

Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience required

Certifications required : ACLS, BLS, NRP, and fetal monitoring (AHA or Red Cross only, no RQI)

Experience required in antepartum, labor and delivery, high risk pregnancies, Level I nursery, LDRP and postpartum care

Skills required : EFM / Internal Fetal Monitoring, IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, medication management, newborn care, pain management, postpartum procedures

Cerner EMR experience preferred

Must not be a perm / PRN employee of the affiliated health system within the last 12 months
