The Director of Corporate Communications establishes strategic direction and oversees communications for internal associate and external media communication programs across the organization to support business initiatives and advance Sentry's brand positioning.
What You'll Do
As the Director of Corporate Communications, you will :
Develop and implement external strategic communication plans to support business objectives, build brand visibility, and represent Sentry's point of view.
Provide direction and counsel on communication strategies, media relations, crisis management, and messaging to senior management to assist them in understanding how effective communications and strategic media relations can help drive the business. Create and implement strategic media relations plans and content that effectively leverages the power of media outlets to support organizational objectives.
Develop relationships and serve as key media relations contact to ensure frequent and strong coverage that represents Sentry's point of view.
Support executive communication, working with c-suite leaders to craft communications including news release quotes, public statements, video scripts, change management, and remarks.
Design and oversee internal communications strategy to engage associates and create awareness of the organization's mission, vision, business priorities, EVP, and financial performance. Oversees content strategy for company's intranet site.
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of business units and internal / external target audiences. Foster creative and innovative marketing approach and materials that result in measurable outcomes. Draft communications for critical or sensitive issues ensuring appropriate messaging and tone of voice.
Manage internal and external communications consistent with brand guidelines and tone of voice.
Be responsible for identifying and selecting outside PR counsel as needed, as well as managing the ongoing relationship. Lead efforts with outside counsel to develop and maintain crisis communication plans and key messages for potential and / or emerging issues affecting the business and / or brand. Execute communication plans as necessary, adjusting and managing priorities as
situations arise.
What it Takes
Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience.
Minimum 10 years' related work experience. 5 or more years of leadership experience including coaching, developing, and managing through other leaders, as well as professional level direct reports.
Demonstrated ability to develop and lead execution of strategic communication programs and plans with measurable results both internal and external across the organization.
Big picture thinker with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills while effectively maintaining a pulse on details.
Outstanding content development, writing, editing and counseling skills.
Strong media relations skills, including proven experience as a spokesperson.
Experience in crisis / issues communications.
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple cross-functional projects simultaneously, under tight time constraints and within budget parameters. Able to negotiate and manage external agency / vendor partnerships.
Ability to navigate the organization with ease, influence senior management and communicate at all levels of the organization.
