Technology Director, Trade Surveillance Technology
The Technology Director, Trade Surveillance Technology will lead the end-to-end strategy, delivery, and modernization of surveillance platforms supporting TD Securities' compliance and control functions. This leader will drive the transformation of trade surveillance systems across multiple asset classes to meet evolving regulatory expectations, reduce operational risk, and enhance analytical capability.
Key responsibilities include :
- Define and execute the surveillance technology strategy aligned with TD's compliance and supervisory mandates.
- Partner with Compliance, Surveillance, and Front Office stakeholders to deliver scalable, automated, and regulator-ready solutions.
- Lead a global team of engineers, data analysts, and product managers to design and enhance surveillance platforms (equities, fixed income, FX, derivatives).
- Improve alert quality, data ingestion, and model detection logic using data science, machine learning, and modern data engineering techniques.
- Ensure data governance, completeness, and accuracy across control-room and surveillance ecosystems.
- Oversee platform scalability, resiliency, and integration with vendor and in-house systems (e.g., NICE Actimize, Nasdaq SMARTS, TradingHub).
- Maintain proactive alignment with regulatory frameworks (SEC, FINRA, FCA, ESMA) and lead incident and model-governance reviews.
Candidate profile :

The Director - Tech Solutions TDS Management builds and maintains strong business relationships with assigned clients / internal partners and provides direction and guidance on optimal technology solutions / services to meet business needs. The position generally manages a varied team of IT professionals and bridges the gap between the business and technology, and leverages resources across functional or specialized technology areas to ensure end-to-end delivery of agreed upon solutions or services within planned forecasts / cost estimates. Role generally supports a significant Business area, Product Group, Enterprise Platform, Service or Capability within a Segment CIO or Functional area.
