American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with at least 2 years of recent med-surg ICU experience, current WA or compact RN license, and required critical care certifications.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 16-bed ICU in an acute care hospital settingNurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 2 for ICU and 1 : 3 for stepdown assignmentsCommon patient conditions include post-STEMI, cardiac cath interventions, sepsis, respiratory failure, DKA, post-op ICU care, vascular surgical interventions, CHF, post-cardiac arrest, renal failure requiring hemodialysis and CRRT, post-stroke with TPA infusion, GI bleed, and substance / alcohol withdrawal managementDay shifts are 12 hours, 6 : 00AM to 6 : 30PM, with scheduling every other weekend and holidays as neededFloat required throughout Region I hospitals including St. Anne, Virginia Mason Medical Center, and other acute or ER transition units; travelers are the first to floatNurses are expected to titrate critical drips such as Levophed, propofol, heparin, vasopressin, phenylephrine, insulin, diltiazem, amiodarone, nitroglycerin, dexmedetomidine, furosemide, dopamine, and dobutamineVentilators, high flow, CPAP, BiPAP, and AVAPS are regularly usedEpic is the EMR used, with training provided if neededHospitalist in house 24 / 7; intensivist accessible via VICU after 7PMProvide care to a medically diverse, high-acuity ICU patient populationNo nurse aides; unit is staffed with resource nurses based on census and acuityMonitor techs present, but RNs verify telemetry stripsSupportive department with a dedicated charge nurse and strong interdisciplinary teamOrientation includes 1 day with educator, up to 2 days on the unit based on prior experience, and Epic training if neededClean, professional scrubs or attire required; no specific colorHoliday shift coverage is required as determined by department needsFirst-time travelers will be considered\n \n Requirements\n
Active WA or compact RN license required at the time of considerationMinimum of 2 years recent general medical ICU experience requiredCurrent ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications requiredStrong experience with sepsis management, targeted temperature management, manual proning for intubated patients, and post-cardiac cath / PCI care with both radial and groin approachExperience managing post-TPA infusion for stroke patients is strongly preferredMust be able to titrate vasoactive and critical care dripsEpic EMR experience preferred; training provided if no recent useCopy of driver’s license required for considerationTwo professional references required : one supervisor within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor within the last 3 years\n Benefits\n
