ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

- Pay Considerations The starting hourly pay for this position is $34.03. The selected candidate for this position will start at the beginning of the salary range, no exceptions. Existing employees will receive increases as outlined by their bargaining agreement.
- Work Schedule This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day, Monday through Thursday, 5 : 30am to 3 : 30pm.
- Environment Very Heavy Work : Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and / or in excess of 50 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to lift a minimum of 75
- pounds unassisted. The worker is subject to outside environmental conditions including extreme heat and cold : No effective protection from weather. The worker is subject to both environmental conditions : Activities occur inside and outside. The worker is subject to noise : There is sufficient noise to cause worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level. The worker is subject to hazards : Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals, walking, and working on slippery and uneven surfaces. The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions : One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin : Fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
THE ROLE
Under general supervision, operates a wide range of construction and maintenance equipment for activities including excavating, grading, loading, cleaning and related operations. Performs skilled maintenance and safety tasks of assigned equipment and machinery, and may act as a lead worker on various assigned projects.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED equivalentFour (4) years of full-time general construction and maintenance work, including experience operating various light to heavy maintenance / construction equipment.Licenses and Certifications
A valid Nevada state Class "A" Commercial Driver's License, or must be obtained within twelve (12) months from date of hire / transfer / reclassification or promotion; may require special endorsements e.g., air brakes, tanker, and must maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record.Must obtain a completion card for an OSHA 10-Hour Construction within fifteen (15) days of the date of hire.Must obtain and maintain a valid IMSA or ATSSA Work Zone Safety Certification within twelve (12) months of hire or promotion.Must obtain a Clark County Air Quality Dust Control certification within twelve (12) months of date of hire.Must obtain a Nevada Department of Transportation Flagger Certification within twelve (12) months of hire.Incumbents in positions that require possession of valid licensing / certification as a condition of employment must obtain and maintain such credentials within the established time periods, and throughout the course of employment. Failure to obtain or maintain required licenses or certifications in good standing may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.SELECTION PROCESS

The personnel file review includes a current employment status check (probationary / qualifying periods), and a review of active discipline and most recent performance evaluation. Employees with a rating that does not meet minimum standards may be disqualified from this recruitment process.Practical Exam (Weight 70% Passing Score 70% to move into Oral interview)Oral Board (Weight 30%, Passing Score 70%)Pre-Employment Screening Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history checks via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening. IMPORTANT INFORMATION : Background check processing may take 2 to 3 months to complete.Selection / Offers Note : Subsequent vacancies during the life of the internal eligibility list may require participation in an additional selection interview. The selection interview will be weighted 100%, requiring a passing score of 70% in order to be considered for the subsequent position vacancy.The selection process may include any combination of written, performance, and oral assessments to evaluate job-related education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
