SUMMARY
Manage the operational and fiscal activities of the department. Plan and develop systems and procedures to improve the operating quality and efficiency of the department. Supervise staff in accordance with company policies and procedures. Responsible for hiring, training, and coaching employees.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Maintenance Manager leads, develops, and provides technical support for all maintenance activities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment focused on stamping, robotic welding, and electrocoating (e-coat) processes. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all production equipment and physical facilities, minimizes unexpected downtime, and drives continuous improvement.
Essential Functions :
- Team Leadership : Supervise, train, mentor, and provide performance evaluations for a team of maintenance technicians in a multi-shift environment.
- Maintenance Strategy : Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive preventative and predictive maintenance programs for all production equipment, machinery, and facility infrastructure.
- Troubleshooting and Repair : Lead and assist maintenance teams in the diagnosis and resolution of complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues affecting stamping presses, robotic welding cells, and the e-coat system.
- E-Coat System Expertise : Oversee the maintenance and repair of the electrocoating system, including managing chemical baths, pumps, filters, and other related process equipment to ensure optimal coating quality.
- Stamping and Welding Equipment : Direct the upkeep of heavy-ton stamping presses, robotic welding systems, automated assembly cells, and other equipment specific to a welding and metal stamping operation.
- Project Management : Oversee the coordination of equipment installations, upgrades, and facility improvements, including managing timelines, budgets, and contractors.
- Budget Management : Prepare and manage the departmental budget, control spending on maintenance costs, and manage vendor relationships for parts and services.
- Safety and Compliance : Ensure all maintenance activities and equipment comply with company, state, and federal safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA). Promote and enforce safety protocols, including Lockout / Tagout (LOTO).
- Inventory and Procurement : Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts and maintenance supplies. Collaborate with vendors to ensure critical components are in stock.
- Continuous Improvement : Utilize data to analyze equipment performance and downtime. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and overall operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications, Education, and Experience :
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.5+ years of maintenance management experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.Proven experience in a stamping, welding, or related metal fabrication operation.Demonstrated knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.Strong experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), including programming and troubleshooting.Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals.Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.Familiarity with preventative and predictive maintenance methodologies.Preferred Qualifications :
Experience with robotic systems.Knowledge of automotive industry standards.Hands-on experience with e-coat systems and associated chemical processes.Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).Work Environment :
This is a full-time, onsite position in a manufacturing plant environment.The role may require working flexible hours, including weekends, and being on-call to support operations.Must be able to work in a variety of conditions, including exposure to noise, heat, moving mechanical parts, and chemicals.Pay :
