Description :

The Physical Therapist Assistant is responsible for clinical and administrative duties under the guidance of a licensed Physical Therapist.

This role includes following the plan of care and goals established by the Physical Therapist.

The assistant will provide direct patient care, including performing physical, electrical, mechanical, and heat treatments according to the treatment plan.

Direct patient care also includes conducting individual and / or group Physical Therapy activities and instructing patients in necessary skills.

Involvement in interdisciplinary team discussions or hospital rounds is expected.

The assistant may participate in program development and serve as a resource person in areas of expertise.

Participation in student programs and rotations, as well as providing in-services, is also part of the role.

Cross-training and coverage at other departments within Client may be required.

Responsibilities include documenting in the electronic health record per compliance timelines.

The assistant must communicate any limitations to leadership that prevent timely documentation.

Maintaining accurate, legible, and complete records for each person served is essential.

The role involves serving on committees and task forces and participating in process improvement initiatives.

Time management skills are necessary for performing administrative duties.

Supervision of Rehab Clinical Assistants, PTA students, and volunteers is also part of the responsibilities.

The Physical Therapist Assistant must maintain and upgrade competencies based on the population served and advancements in healthcare sciences and technology.
