Overview

The Part-Time Video Production Assistant (Video PA) will assist the team to create compelling video content through all aspects of video production including : setup, shooting, light graphic design, and other duties as assigned. This position must be able to act independently, but also be proactive in making positive contributions in a collaborative, team-first environment. The position requires a well-rounded knowledge of set design, video framing, and dynamic product placement with an emphasis on visual storytelling.

Essential Functions

  • Execute all aspects of video set development, in collaboration with producers, videographers, and product team to place products on set (including corresponding fabric and notions for all tutorials), dress set dynamically per project shot for tutorials, and develop consistent and creative look-and-feel for special projects.
  • Design, compose, and / or create various professional shooting environments, both studio-based and in the field, cooperating with photography teams on location-based projects and shoots.
  • Clerical responsibilities : coordinate / deliver supplies / materials between departments; organize / make / distribute photocopies of call sheets, patterns, documents, fabric, etc.; file production paperwork (receipts, release forms, sign-up sheets, etc.); re-stock crafts services; lunch setup, pickups, and cleanup.
  • Help assist the Videographer with special projects; i.e., Ex. Jenny’s Countdown to Christmas Box, Block of the Month series, special guests’ series - for branded look, consistency, framing, set design, product placement, and appearance on-camera.
  • Work closely with the video producer to ensure coordination, including but not limited to finding missing or additional products during filming, tracking and suggesting wardrobe, light hair and makeup for guests and instructors, errands on filming days to include shipping of guest materials, coffee / supply runs, studio & equipment delivery (microphones / batteries).
  • The PA will occasionally cross train to understand basic camera operation and recording devices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education / Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • 1-3 years equivalent work experience required
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, tasks and priorities and to address feedback for continuous improvement required.
  • Priority given to candidates with experience dressing sets and product placement in a professional work environment.
  • Required working knowledge of Google Docs / Sheets.
  • Basic knowledge of video production and on-set etiquette is a plus.
  • Able to work variable schedules on an as needed basis to get production completed.
  • Project management experience is a plus to help manage multiple high-priority projects and stay organized.

  • Excellent aesthetic and skill for capturing visual storytelling.
  • High attention to detail and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Able to work effectively and professionally in a creative, fluid deadline-driven and team-based environment, while getting the best out of contributors, content creators, and creative team.
  • Physical Requirements

  • This position regularly requires sitting, standing, walking, and climbing stairs.
  • Repetitive use of hands and fingers while operating a keyboard
  • Lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally
