Cottage Parents - Family-Style Residential Homes
The Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches is seeking married couples to live and work with youth in one of our family-style residential homes. This is a full-time, permanent position that involves living on campus for 14 days and then going off duty and off campus for 7 days. The combined annual salary is $74,880. Each spouse must apply individually.
Responsibilities
- Provide youth with a strong parental role model within a professional family-style program that emphasizes skill acquisition, personal development, and a safe environment.
- Teach and develop social skills, self-help skills, academic skills, and independent living skills; foster moral and spiritual development through activities for youth in residence.
- Administer day-to-day operations of a large family residence, including paperwork and domestic responsibilities; work closely with other child care professionals as a team.
- Work under the supervision of an assigned Unit Director and report to the Unit Director. This position is not eligible for overtime pay.
Education And Experience Requirements
High school graduate or equivalent (some college credits preferred).Must be at least 21 years of age.Married couple; both partners must apply.Valid Florida driver's license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment; good driving record.Concern for youth and the ability / desire to work and live with youth; strong interest in the human services field.Working Conditions
While on duty, the position requires availability 24 hours a day. The typical schedule is 14 days on, 7 days off. May be required to work in outdoor weather conditions.
