Mechanic II : $32.96 / hourly - $37.08 / hourly
Salary Range :
Mechanic I : $27.74 / hourly- $41.62 / hourly
Mechanic II : $32.96 / hourly - $49.44 / hourly
Position Summary : Performs various technical, mechanical, and administrative duties at the journeyman mechanic level for the Parks and Open Space Department consistent with the organization's values and mission statement.
Supervision Exercised and Received : Position works under the general supervision of the Parks Operations Manager.

Minimum Qualifications :
Education : High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience : One to Three years of experience as a vehicle / equipment mechanic on all types of gasoline and diesel powered equipment or equivalent training.
Technical Knowledge :
Must be proficient in the following areas : Microsoft Outlook Email, and a basic understanding of computers and online computer-based technology applications, which includes accessing web based platforms.
Licenses & Certifications :
Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License or be able to obtain one within 30 days of start date.
Valid Colorado CDL driver's license class B with tanker endorsement. Air Brake inspector certification or ability to achieve one within 6 months of hire.
NOTE : Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required abilities, knowledge and skills as determined by the City of Aspen may be substituted for the requirements above.
NOTE : This position may be filled at either the Mechanic I or Mechanic II level based on the selected candidate's qualifications and experience.
NOTE : This position requires a drug test (to be completed at PROCOM - Glenwood Springs), a physical examination (at Grand River Health Clinic West - Parachute), and a Criminal Background Check upon hire. Employment is contingent upon passing a physical examination, a drug test and Criminal Background Check.
NOTE : This position is required to comply with state, federal and local regulations concerning Drug and Alcohol Testing procedures applicable to holders of Commercial Driver's License (CDLs) holders which includes but is not limited to : pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing and a completed, satisfactory previous employer reference form.
