Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Pre / Post RN for our team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate responsibility and accountability to facilitate a safe and well functioning environment. This role is critical in ensuring patient safety before and after surgical procedures, and collaborating with other staff to assure an efficient workflow of cases.
Summary : Assesses, provides, and coordinates patient care, educates patients and their family members, and provides emotional support to patients and their family members. Executes medical regimens prescribed by a licensed physician, dentist or other licensed health care provider legally authorized under the NYS Education Department and in accordance with NYS Department of Health regulations. Adheres to current policies and standards of practice by performing the following duties.
The Preop / admitting nurse provides nursing care to patients being admitted for surgery. The nursing role during this phase focuses on assessing, identifying and solving nursing care and any preop problems. The nurse is responsible for starting and monitoring IV's, administering preop medications and performing preop instruction and explanation of surgical procedures. The nurse assists anesthesia with nerve blocks.
The PACU nurse provides nursing care to patients returning from surgery. The nursing role focuses on assisting the patient through the transition from an anesthetized state to an awake condition. The nurse is responsible for assisting and maintaining adequate ventilation, hemostasis and circulation; assessing vital signs, level of consciousness, providing pain management and ensuring the safety of the patient until discharged from the facility.

Qualifications :

Education / Experience :
Associate or BSN Degree and 2-3 years' experience and / or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must hold BLS / ACLS certifications.
Language Ability :
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Math Ability :
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability :
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills :
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of in-house applications.
