By joining our Scottsville Section as a Engineer in Training II in Allen County, you'll have the opportunity to work alongside a professional engineer while gaining experience in construction and maintenance highway projects.

Summary Of Responsibilities

  • Review and develop plans, proposals, design for highway projects under direction of a professional engineer.
  • Provide technical assistance for contract work on highway maintenance projects.
  • Review traffic control and make recommendations to the section engineer.
  • Work with engineers, property owners, the general public, and other employees to assist the section.
  • Assist the section engineer with construction administration of highway projects.

Ideal Candidate Will Have Experience In

  • Basic plan reading
  • Speaking with customers, public, and contractors
  • KYTC road system, policies, and practices
  • Highway construction and maintenance of roads
  • Computer data entry, basic computer skills

    Minimum Requirements

    EDUCATION : Graduate of a college or university with an accredited bachelor's degree in engineering.

    EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS : Must have two years of engineering experience as an Engineer-In-Training.

    Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE : A master's degree in engineering will substitute for one year of the required experience.

    Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION : NONE

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.) : Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification. Certification as an Engineer-In-Training recognized by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
