We are seeking a dedicated Canine Handler to join our esteemed team at the Carlsbad Police Department. As a Canine Handler, you will be responsible for the training, care, and utilization of K-9 units in law enforcement operations. The role involves a deep commitment to the welfare and training of the canine partner while collaborating with law enforcement teams to ensure public safety and support various departmental missions.

K-9 TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

• Conduct rigorous training programs for K-9 units in obedience, agility, scent detection, apprehension, and other essential skills.
• Maintain and enhance the proficiency of the K-9 partner through regular training exercises and simulations.
• Ensure the canine is prepared to assist in various law enforcement scenarios, such as narcotics detection, search and rescue, suspect apprehension, and crowd control.
