Description :

Unit features seven operating suites.

The team handles 18-20 cases per day.

ACLS and BLS certifications are mandatory; CST certification is preferred.

The staff-to-patient ratio is 1 : 1 or 2 : 1.

Electronic medical records are managed using Cerner.

Charge nurses and OR techs are present on the unit.

There are no weekend requirements for registered nurses.

Certified surgical techs also have no weekend requirements.

On-call requirements exist for registered nurses, with some nights and weekends scheduled.

Registered nurses are expected to cover one weeknight and two 12-hour weekend call shifts each month.

Certified surgical techs will have a similar on-call requirement.

Call response time is expected to be within 30 minutes.

Holiday shifts may be required.

Scrub colors will be provided by the facility.

Telemedicine capabilities are supported with Philips equipment.

Ventilation systems are in place.

Surgeons are available 24 / 7.

The respiratory team is available around the clock.

Pharmacy services are also available 24 / 7.

Shifts may vary between 8-hour and 10-hour durations.

Floating responsibilities are limited to pre and post-operative care.

Specific orientation tailored to the floor is provided.

Common case types include laparoscopic, bariatric, orthopedic, neurological, urological, gynecological, and ENT procedures.

Scrubbing is not required for registered nurses but is recommended for surgical technologists.

Surgical techs are responsible for the assembly of sets and decontamination duties.

Cancellations may occur for up to four shifts during a 13-week assignment.

No specific charting system beyond Cerner is used.

A bachelor's degree in nursing is not required.

Trauma level is classified as level 3.

The care setting is acute.

This position falls within allied health.
