The Department of Psychological Sciences and Counseling at Valparaiso University is offering an exciting tenure-track opportunity for a teaching-focused individual with expertise in clinical / counseling areas of psychology to begin in Fall 2026. This position is a full-time 9-month appointment. Specific responsibilities include : teaching undergraduate courses, developing an active program of research / scholarship, mentoring undergraduate students, and service to the department and university.
The successful candidate will teach courses in their specialty area and courses could include General Psychology, Personality Psychology, Neuropsychology, Abnormal Psychology, Psychotherapy and Counseling, or another applied area, typically with a 21-credit teaching load, plus additional research and campus citizenship activities.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. (ABD considered) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or a closely related field. Additionally, candidates should have experience teaching and mentoring student research. The expected starting salary will be in the range of $55,000 to $59,000, depending on experience.
Our faculty energetically and collaboratively mentor undergraduate majors in scholarly activities. The Department of Psychological Sciences and Counseling consists of 10 full-time faculty members, over 120 undergraduate psychology majors, and 40 graduate students. Our educational approach is student-centered and demands high faculty-student engagement. We seek a candidate who is similarly motivated to include undergraduates in professional development opportunities and ongoing programs of research. The successful candidate will serve as a core faculty within our undergraduate psychology program, with opportunities to teach advanced courses in our CACREP accredited master’s program in clinical mental health counseling (CMHC).
