Sonoma Specialty Hospital, as the countys only Long-Term Acute Care Hospital, is dedicated to caring for patients that require an extended acute care stay due to severe illness or catastrophic injury. We accept patients from the ICU, Step-Down and Telemetry units of partner hospitals and continue their care for as long as 45 days. This care focuses on the challenges of getting patients off of ventilator support, healing severe wounds, aiding their recovery following surgical procedures, and providing rehabilitation to speed their return to daily life. Our Hospital provides ICU, Surgical, and Step-Down care with dialysis, multi-specialty therapies and ongoing planning for the patients transition back home or into a lower level of care. Job Summary :
The Occupational Therapist evaluates, provides, and administers treatment prescribed for a spectrum of disabilities under a plan of care signed by a physician and, when appropriate, in conjunction with other disciplines. The occupational therapist participates in in-service and quality assurance programs, as well as,,other duties and administrative tasks as directed by supervisors.
Education, Training and Licenses Required :
Experience :
Two years of experience as an Occupational Therapist in one of the following settings : acute hospital, skilled nursing facility, and / or outpatient clinic preferred.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Required :
Thorough command of accepted Occupational Therapy evaluation and treatment techniques; good documentation, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to interact effectively with patients of all ages and developmental stages.
Equipment Knowledge Required :
The Occupational Therapist will demonstrate competency in theory and practical use of diagnostic evaluation tools to assess activities of daily living, cognitive skills, neuromuscular, and visual perceptual abilities to plan appropriate treatment.
Safety Requirements :
Employees are responsible for all aspects of the hospital safety and health program including compliance with safety rules and regulations, remedying unsafe working conditions, and for continuously practicing safety while performing duties. SSH policy prohibits employees with patient contact or those who prepare products for patient use from wearing artificial nails.
