HVAC Technician
Reports To : Service Manager / Operations Manager
FLSA Status : Non-Exempt
Location : St. Augustine, Florida
Position Summary
The HVAC Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing heating but not limited to, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for residential and / or commercial clients. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service while following safety standards and company procedures.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair residential and commercial HVAC systems and related components.
- Perform diagnostic tests and inspections to identify system malfunctions.
- Replace defective parts, wiring, and controls as needed.
- Calibrate thermostats and other system controls for optimal performance.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and manufacturer specifications.
- Complete required service reports, documentation, and work orders accurately and on time.
- Follow company policies, safety procedures, and regulatory guidelines, including EPA standards.
- Provide professional, courteous service and communicate clearly with customers regarding service issues and solutions.
- Participate in ongoing training to stay up to date with industry developments and certifications.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training preferred.Minimum 5 years of experience in HVAC installation, maintenance, or repair preferred.Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical systems, and mechanical components.Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Strong communication and customer service skills.Physical Requirements :
Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb ladders, and work in tight or elevated spaces.Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally more with assistance.Manual dexterity to operate tools, controls, and equipment.Visual and hearing acuity sufficient to diagnose system issues and communicate effectively.Ability to tolerate exposure to varying temperatures, dust, noise, and other environmental conditions associated with HVAC work.Working Conditions :
Work performed in homes, businesses, construction sites, attics, basements, and outdoors.Drug Free workplace.May be exposed to weather conditions, chemicals, electrical hazards, and confined spaces.Regularly uses personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with company safety policies.Work Schedule
Typical schedule : [e.g., Monday – Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m.]. Overtime, evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations may be required based on business needs.
