DIRECTOR OF FACILITIES The Director of Facilities is responsible for overseeing contract execution, operations, maintenance, and repair services at the Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC) and across U.S.
Engineering’s Operations & Maintenance portfolio.
This role ensures the delivery of reliable, efficient, and cost-effective facility solutions while maintaining compliance, safety, and service excellence.
The Director provides strategic leadership in managing and growing the O&M business at KCNSC, managing client relationships, and ensuring effective contract execution and financial performance.
In addition, this position leads and develops a high-performing team of facilities and technical professionals – fostering a culture grounded in integrity, respect, inclusion, accountability, and continuous improvement – to support long-term organizational success.
Principal Duties and Accountabilities :
- Overall responsible for facility operations; partners with Chief Engineer(s) and operational support staff in daily operations, maintenance, and repair activities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient facility performance across all assigned contracts and facilities.
- Ensures full compliance with contract scope(s), adherence of site-specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), federal contract reporting compliance, performance standards, and reporting requirements; proactively identifies and mitigates risks to ensure service excellence and complete customer satisfaction.
- Serves as the primary client liaison for multiple contracts at KCNSC, building strong, trust-based relationships and ensuring alignment with client goals and metrics.
- Develops and manages annual budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for all contracts; monitors cost performance, labor utilization, and profitability.
- Develops and maintains outstanding relationship with union workforce leadership; acts as primary liaison to ensure workforce requirements are met.
- Leader of people; Leads, coaches, and develops a TEAM of facility professionals and technical staff; establishes clear performance expectations, fosters accountability, and builds a culture of engagement and customer service.
- Acts as project manager to include budgeting, estimating, and execution of all service projects at the KCNSC and O&M portfolio sites.
- Partners with U.S.
- Engineering leadership team to identify and pursue opportunities to expand U.S.
- Engineering’s O&M portfolio; contributes to business development, proposals, pricing strategies, and resource planning.
- Acts as U.S.
- Engineering Service’s Facilities Security Officer (FSO) for all sites requiring security clearances.
- Member of U.S.
- Engineering Service’s management committee and strategic planning teams.
Education :
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, mechanical engineering, or business management, or related field preferred.Experience :
Equivalent combination of field and leadership experience will be considered. 10 years of experience in the mechanical service industry required.At least 10 years in a senior facility leadership role preferred.Proven success in O&M leadership and client account management.Demonstrated experience overseeing federal contracting activities preferred.Knowledge, skills, and abilities :
Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, structural, safety systems, architectural, and landscape operations, as well as quality assurance.Skilled at developing innovative technical solutions tailored to client needs.Solid understanding of job costing, budgeting, and profit forecasting.Exceptional communication and relationship building skills, with a customer first mindset.Able to work autonomously but within parameters of corporate policy and standards.Excellent time management and organizational skills.Ability to adapt effectively to changing priorities.Strong presentation and public speaking skills.Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) “Q” security clearance with SIGMA 15 endorsement.Strategic and innovative thinker who can envision the future and lead and manage change efforts when necessary. The range for this position has been established at $142,000 to $200,000 per year and is U.S.Engineering’s good faith and reasonable estimate at the time of the posting.The compensation offered to the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.Compensation for this role includes a base salary complemented by commission opportunities based on the Account Manager’s individual sales performance and attainment of sales targets Your total compensation will go beyond the number on your paycheck.Team members are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and / or individual performance as well as paid time off.An industry-leading benefits package, including health, dental, and vision plans, matching retirement contributions, and matching 529 contributions all add to your bottom line.This position will be posted until November 6, 2025.To apply, please visit https :
