Director Of Clinical Services
San Jose Behavioral Health is a 133-bed inpatient psychiatric hospital serving adolescents and adults facing mental health and co-occurring substance use challenges. Our mission is to provide compassionate, evidence-based care in a secure, therapeutic environment that supports recovery and long-term wellness.
We are seeking an experienced Director of Clinical Services to lead our clinical programs, support our multidisciplinary treatment teams, and ensure the highest standards of care for our patients. This is a key leadership role for a collaborative, mission-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced behavioral health environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and provide strategic direction to clinical teams, ensuring collaboration across departments.
- Serve as part of the facility leadership team, making independent clinical decisions to ensure quality care.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and patient-centered care.
- Align clinical operations with organizational and corporate goals.
Program Development & Quality
Develop, implement, and evaluate evidence-based clinical programs that meet community needs.Integrate best practices into treatment plans to improve outcomes and patient satisfaction.Monitor clinical performance metrics and take corrective action when needed.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Joint Commission and CMS standards.Maintain accurate documentation and oversee safety and infection control measures.Staff Development & Supervision
Supervise, mentor, and provide clinical supervision to staff, ensuring consistent use of evidence-based practices.Lead training in assessments, measurement-based care, interventions, CPR, and de-escalation.Monitor fidelity of programming and provide coaching or retraining as needed.Manage hiring, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations.Review caseloads to optimize service utilization.Collaboration & Community Engagement
Serve as a liaison between clinical staff, administration, and external partners.Work with community organizations, referral sources, and healthcare providers to enhance patient access.Support business development and participate in community outreach events.Additional Duties
Provide direct crisis intervention and case planning as needed.Maintain a limited caseload when required and provide program coverage.Develop and update operating policies to meet regulatory and care standards.Participate in on-call rotation and address patient safety concerns promptly.Qualifications :
Education : Master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field required.Licenses / Certifications : Current state licensure (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or equivalent) required. CPR and de-escalation certification required (training available upon hire).Experience :
Minimum of 5-7 years of clinical leadership experience in behavioral health.Proven track record of program development, staff supervision, and operational oversight.Familiarity with regulatory standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS) and experience ensuring compliance.Preferred Qualifications :
Experience in an inpatient psychiatric or behavioral health hospital.Knowledge of performance improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.Benefits :
