Under the supervision of District Equipment Supervisor, a Foreman and / or lead of Equipment Specialist III, the Mechanic Level I - II performs a wide range of repairs, maintenance, and fabrication activities on Kent County Road Commission (KCRC) fleet and equipment. Activities may include diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing malfunctions, and performing regular service of the fleet with fuels, lubricants, and tires, including yearly and seasonal maintenance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Receive prioritized work schedules for equipment or vehicle repairs and maintenance. 2. Performs routine preventative maintenance and inspections; makes corrective repairs on the functional parts of county vehicles and mechanical equipment when necessary. 3. Performs routine maintenance activities, such as engine valve adjustments, tune-ups, brake adjustments, wheel alignments, tightening bolts and screws, checking fluids / batteries, and the lubrication of moving parts. 4. Replaces worn tires, shock absorbers and springs. Three years of progressively more responsible mechanical maintenance experience or equivalent. Michigan Class A Commercial Driver's license (CDL) with an "N" Tank endorsement and successful completion of a physical examination and substance abuse testing. Permits for fork-lift, scissor-lift, and overhead crane. Schedule & Compensation Days in the summer : 6 : 00 a.m. - 2 : 30 p.m. at $29.31-$31.69 per hour base pay Afternoons in the winter : 2 : 00 - 10 : 30 - additional $2.25 per hour premium wage Medical, dental, vision, 9% 401K match - Great culture!
