Must-Have :
Graduate of an approved School of Radiological Sciences or a degree in Allied Health Science.
Minimum of one to three years' experience with Cardiac Catheterization procedures.
Description :
This position is responsible for professional patient care and assisting in performing cardiac diagnostic, cardiac interventional, and invasive radiology procedures of the cardiac, vascular, and circulatory systems.
This role utilizes the patient care process to ensure safe and competent, quality patient care.
The CVT Senior assists in all procedures performed in the invasive cardiology area and supports the medical care of all patients requiring any cardiac or peripheral catheterization and / or intervention under the direction of medical staff pursuant to the mission and objectives of the organization.
Responsibilities include preparing the cardiac catheterization lab and compiling patient information, pertinent paperwork, and charges.
Obtaining informative, accurate, and concise needs from the patient is essential.
Ensuring patient comfort is a priority while explaining procedures clearly and answering any questions in a professional manner.
All actions must ensure that patient dignity and confidentiality are maintained at all times.
Adherence to training competency is required.
Assisting the physician prior to and during the procedure by setting up necessary supplies and equipment on a sterile field is critical.
Passing instruments, catheters, contrast media, and other supplies during procedures, without breaking the sterile field, is also necessary.
Maintenance of equipment and instruments through proper cleaning, troubleshooting, and servicing is expected.
Verifying the correct patient is being attended to ensures that orders are written correctly on the patient's chart before a procedure begins.
In coordination with nursing staff, ensuring consent forms are filled out and a "Time Out" is performed prior to procedures is required.
Validating data obtained by reviewing the plan of care with the attending nursing and medical staff for specific patient problems is also a key responsibility.
Operating electronic monitoring equipment necessary to properly monitor, record, and assist in interpretation of patient EKG and hemodynamics during procedures is vital.
Competent operation of angiographic equipment to produce high-quality studies is necessary.
Assisting in scheduling patients for procedures ensures that all appropriate supplies and equipment are readily available before the procedure occurs.
Maintaining physiologic and hemodynamic equipment is important.
It is essential to notify the lead technician or supervisor of needed supplies.
Maintaining and retrieving from the PACS system as needed is required.
The CVT Senior functions as a scrub technician for cardiac pacemakers / defibrillators, diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures, diagnostic and interventional peripheral procedures, and interventional radiology procedures.
Aseptic and sterile technique must always be adhered to, while providing needed equipment and supplies in a timely manner.
Demonstrating competence to perform assigned patient care responsibilities in a manner that meets the needs of the patient population served is necessary.
The ability to perform in emergency procedures safely and effectively is required.
Utilizing clinical experience and knowledge to anticipate potential patient problems and / or emergencies and making provisions to address them is essential.
Appropriately adapting assigned patient assessment, treatment, and / or care methods to meet the unique needs of each patient is expected.
Call and call back responsibilities are required, with the associate needing to be onsite within a 30-minute response time.
Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
