Low Voltage Technician (Alarm Panel Specialist)

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Low Voltage Technician with expertise in alarm panel installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting — particularly with Lenel, Bosch, and DMP systems. In this role, you will install, configure, service, and maintain low-voltage systems, including security alarms, access control, video surveillance, structured cabling, and nurse call systems. You'll ensure optimal performance, regulatory compliance, and seamless integration with network infrastructure. This position requires a self-starter with strong problem-solving skills, a willingness to travel, and a commitment to exceptional customer service. Key Responsibilities

  • Install, program, and maintain low-voltage systems, including security alarm panels (Lenel, Bosch, DMP), access control, video surveillance, structured cabling, nurse call systems, and associated wiring.
  • Conduct routine inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance on systems to ensure functionality, safety, and compliance with industry standards and local codes.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with alarm panels, sensors, cameras, and other low-voltage equipment, delivering efficient solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Configure and integrate systems with network infrastructure, monitoring software, and remote access tools for seamless operation.
  • Collaborate with clients, trades, and contractors to assess needs, provide technical guidance, and ensure projects meet specifications on multi-disciplinary initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of installations, service calls, system configurations, and project details.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, industry standards (e.g., NFPA for fire alarms), and company policies during on-site activities.
  • Assist in training junior technicians or end-users on system operation, maintenance, and best practices.
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in relevant systems to drive continuous improvement.
  • Work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative on complex projects.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification, associate degree in electronics / electrical systems, or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience in low-voltage installations and service, including structured cabling, video surveillance, access control, nurse call, or alarm systems.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Strong knowledge of low-voltage wiring, network protocols, IP-based security systems, and integration techniques.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook), with excellent writing and communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills and professional demeanor.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record; Security License required.
  • Ability to pass background checks and obtain necessary certifications (e.g., NICET, state licensing).
  • Fluency in English (required).
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% within the region and out-of-state (expenses and per diem covered by Caspian).
  • Preferred Skills

  • Certifications in Lenel, Bosch, DMP, or related systems.
  • Experience with CCTV, intercoms, fire alarm systems, or other low-voltage technologies.
  • Familiarity with NFPA codes and advanced troubleshooting in integrated environments.
  • Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying environmental conditions.
