Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Med Surg Discipline : RN Start Date : 11 / 17 / 2025 Duration : 26 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, nights Employment Type : Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a night shift Med / Surg Neuro Unit, requiring a NC or compact RN license and BLS / ACLS certification. Responsibilities Work on a Neuro-focused Medical Surgical unit in a hospital setting Patient population includes general medicine with an emphasis on neuro cases Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 6 Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 18 : 45-07 : 15), with options for 36 or 48 hours per week Required to work 5-6 weekend shifts per contract (every other weekend) Contract duration options are 13 to 26 weeks Travelers are required to float within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals as needed Uses Pyxis for medication management and Epic for documentation Managers coordinate scheduling Unit orientation consists of 24 hours Navy blue scrubs required Responsibilities include providing comprehensive medical-surgical care with a focus on neurological patients Participation in the Storm Team and / or Hurricane Team may be required during catastrophic events Travelers must be comfortable with floating and flexible assignments during contract Training modules must be completed prior to start and annually thereafter Holiday coverage requires working at least 2 out of 3 major holidays Previous employees of Novant Health or New Hanover must have a 12-month gap before applying as a traveler Travelers may not simultaneously hold Per Diem and Travel Contract roles within the system Fatigue policy limits working to no more than 5 days in a row or 60 hours per week Requirements Active NC or compact RN license required at time of start Minimum of 2 years of recent Med / Surg nursing experience required Current BLS and ACLS certifications required EKG testing must be passed prior to start Epic charting experience preferred Teamwork approach and strong focus on patient safety required Willingness to float as needed based on census and skill set Maximum of 7 days RTO approved, with no RTO allowed in the first week Perm address within 50 miles is considered local (local pay) Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-625505.
