The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, founded in 1946, is dedicated to training future veterinarians, providing services to animal owners and veterinarians, and conducting investigations to improve the health of animals as well as people. The college benefits pets and their owners, food-producing animals, and wildlife by offering the highest quality hospital and diagnostic laboratory services. Minimum Qualifications

Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education / experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications

Licensed Veterinary Technician with experience in a surgery based hospital setting.

Position Summary

The primary purpose and function of the Licensed Veterinary Technician is to support veterinarians in ensuring quality veterinary care, advocating for pets, and educating clients. The LVT III will also assist the senior veterinary and veterinary technician students with anesthetic management for a variety of surgical and diagnostic procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and / or Competencies

Hands-on LVT experience in a clinical setting. Current GA LVT license.

Work in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating excellent customer service, high degree of confidentiality, openness to teaching and providing consultation to a variety of stakeholders.

Physical Demands

• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• May sit, stand, stoop, bend and walk / move intermittently during the day on hard floor surfaces.
• Dealing with stressful situations.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to accurately work with small, delicate pieces of equipment or large heavy objects / containers / machinery.
