Description : SUMMARY
The Upfit Technician provides high-level configuration documentation for fleet upfit builds to the production facility, including engineering drawings for locating equipment and high-level work instructions. The technician also supplies basic design support and troubleshooting to manufacturing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Use 2D and 3D CAD design tools to draft concept designs for communication with sales and production.
Produce high-level work instructions for fleet build upfits to the production floor.
Provide equipment operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance information for technical manuals.
Provide design and manufacturing support to production as needed.
Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.
Adhere to corporate engineering policies and procedures and use them to guide quality of work.
Follow all safety rules as laid out in the company employee handbook and other supplemental safety training. Continuously promote a culture of working safety.
GENERAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS
General knowledge of Microsoft 365 products with proficiency in Word and Excel.
Capable of reading and accurately interpreting engineering drawings and other technical documents.
Ability to effectively communicate through written and oral means.
Analytical skills and ability to troubleshoot and solve complex problems.
Working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems associated with the automotive and work truck industry preferred.
Ability to measure physical components accurately using machine tools.
Strong applied mathematics skills, including physics, trigonometry, and statistics.
Working knowledge of 2D and 3D design software required. AutoCAD and SolidWorks preferred.
Knowledge of ERP software and associated systems preferred.
Be willing to work both independently and in a team environment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associates Degree in Engineering or related field.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Regular standing, walking, and use of hands to feel or handle objects, tools, and controls.
Frequent verbal communication required.
Ability to lift and manipulate up to 40lbs.
May be required to work indoors in a shop environment or outside in variable weather conditions.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Company sponsored continuing education and training.
Some overnight travel may be required.
Valid drivers license.
