Conduct thorough patient assessments, including comprehensive medical histories, physical examinations, and review of diagnostic tests and imaging. Interpret laboratory results, genetic tests, biopsies, and imaging studies to determine appropriate treatment options and prognosis. Develop individualized treatment plans based on the patient's condition, stage of cancer, medical history, and patient preferences, incorporating the latest evidence-based guidelines and clinical trials. Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and other systemic treatments, monitoring their effectiveness and managing treatment-related side effects. Coordinate and oversee radiation therapy, surgical interventions, and interventional radiology procedures as part of a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. Provide supportive care and symptom management to alleviate pain, nausea, fatigue, and other treatment-related complications. Collaborate closely with oncology nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care. Communicate effectively with patients and their families, explaining diagnoses, treatment options, potential risks, and anticipated outcomes in a clear and empathetic manner. Participate actively in tumor boards, case conferences, and multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss complex cases and develop optimal treatment strategies.
