The salary range for an Sr. Actuarial Analyst is $65,900 to $118,600. Actual salaries will vary by geographic location and are based on factors such as candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, competencies, and company tenure & equity. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan based on company performance and individual performance.
Sr Actuarial Analyst Overview
This position provides in-depth actuarial knowledge and professional expertise within the organization and conducts actuarial analysis for products across all lines of dental business. Plays a key role in several areas of responsibility including pricing and cost analyses, the development of rate filings, participation in financial reviews, analysis of actuarial trends and issues, etc. Works with staff to monitor performance trends and is expected to provide actionable information from this analysis.
Essential Duties :
Conducts actuarial analysis for products across all lines of business including Group, Individual, Medicare and MedicaidSupports the development of state and federal rate filings and manual rates for all marketsAssists with designing and pricing dental productsAssists the development of the corporation's monthly reserve liabilities for dental businessOngoing monitoring and reporting of product trends including building new reporting dashboardsSupports underwriting rating system development and develop pricing tools used by underwriters to improve pricing accuracy and efficiency, support implementation of underwriting guidelinesPerforms underwriting non-standard pricing requests and other underwriting responsibilities as assignedPerforms analytical analysis of fee schedules and dental proceduresMonitors and reports large case underwriting resultsSupports provider profiling and network analyticsIdentifies data issues and works with the data governance team to recommend solutionsDevelops reporting and monitors key underwriting / financial metrics and responsible for assigned underwriting case workSupports data reporting and ad hoc analyticsRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Advanced proficiency Microsoft Excel skillsIntermediate proficiency with SQL and VBAExcellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to address a wide range of audiencesResponsive to feedback and adaptable to new situations and requirementsRequired Education and Experience :
Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, Computer Science or related fieldCompletion of 3 or more actuarial exams from the Society of Actuaries2 years of related actuarial experienceOr, equivalent military experiencePreferred Education and Experience
4+ years of related actuarial experienceCompletion of 4 or more actuarial exams from the Society of ActuariesExperience with dental or medical insurance productsStrong actuarial modeling experience and skillsSound actuarial judgment with ability to solve complex problemsExperience across multiple actuarial functions such as product pricing assignments, development of manual rates, state / federal rate filing submissions, forecasting and determining claim reserve liabilitiesExperience with data quality metrics and data governanceEqual Opportunity Employer
