Formability Specialist Chattanooga TN
Dedicated to observing and tracking product run to aid in establishing top die performance through formability analysis.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Trained eye for good parts and have the ability to compare draw shells to master samples.
- Ability to understand basics of draw die functions and adjustments to optimize thinning.
- Train others on off shifts to accomplish tasks.
- First and last piece inspection for tooling review of final product and drawn part on high risk parts.
- Track steel Y,T,E,N value, R Value for high risk parts and track failure results thus identifying projected failure rate from mechanical properties of steel on excel document.
- Perform circle grid master panels and do monthly analysis on high risk parts.
- Work with quality department to understand high risk parts and failure areas.
- Work with scheduling to have high risk parts run during day shift or be able to support on off shift as much as possible.
- Work with Die Engineering and forming analysis group to track results from drawing changes.
- Measure and track thinning percentages on high risk parts on past failure areas.
- Assist with new launches to optimize formability during design concept phase, based off Lessons Learned.
- Other duties as deemed necessary by Tooling Manager.
- Work overtime as required.
- Travel to die shops at first part off tool for formability analysis, and for final die buyoff at die shop.
- Scan dies using GOM scan on a yearly basis for updated designs and track changes in the die.
- Convert scans to 3D model.
- Utilize the ARGUS camera system for formability analysis.
Education and Experience
High School diploma or GED required.Minimum (2) years' experience in Manufacturing, Automotive industry.Quality Inspection experience, circle grid, formability analysis training and die experience is a plus.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Comfortable using a tablet and Microsoft office software.Knowledge of draw dies and ability to see material flow restraints.Material testing (YTE testing, thinning analysis, circle grid analysis,) knowledge.Able to perform ultrasonic testing, use pin micrometers, and plasma cutting.Excellent communication skills.Physical and Mental Requirements of the Position
