Construction Project Manager II

The Facilities Planning & Management department at Iowa State University is seeking candidates for a Construction Project Manager II to provide project and construction management services for small capital renewal and building repair projects for campus facilities. Facilities Planning & Management (FP&M) is an organization that is dedicated to the maintenance and enhancement of Iowa State University, one of the nation's leading educational and agricultural institutes. But more importantly, FP&M is dedicated to their employees and enhancing the lives of each team member through opportunities both professionally and personally. FP&M is one of the largest departments on campus and currently employs over 450 full-time employees and students combined.

Example of Duties

  • Plans and coordinates design and construction of small construction and repair projects using contractors, Facilities staff and others.
  • Acts as primary liaison with campus customers to ensure projects meet needs.
  • Prioritizes activities and resources to execute projects on schedule.
  • Oversees project budgets.
  • Participates in developing spending and budget reports.
  • Works with designers to evaluate products and design standards for building repair type projects.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.

Level Guidelines

  • Intermediate-level position with solid professional and / or technical skills working under general supervision to achieve goals.
  • Applies broad, working knowledge of the principles of the field to moderately complex, difficult, and varied problems and issues.
  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and resolve problems.
  • Responds to a broad range of inquiries and requests.
  • May provide training and / or direction to lower-level staff.
  • May lead projects of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Provides guidance to students.
