American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position in California requiring a CA RN license and strong critical care expertise.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in the ICU of an acute care hospital settingCares for a variety of patients including cardiac, stroke, sepsis, CABG, post-cath lab, balloon pumps, ventilator and medical-surgical ICU casesCurrent ICU uses 36 out of 44 licensed bedsNurse-to-patient ratios of 1 : 2 or 1 : 112-hour night shifts with every other weekend required (Friday to Sunday)Must float to Telemetry and ER for ICU holdsUnit features hardwired GE monitors (44), Cerner PowerChart EMR, and required use of drips (vasopressors, nitro, heparin) and ventilatorsCharge nurse is present and does not take patient assignments; unit tech available for supportNo nurse aides; monitor tech present, but no centralized monitoringHospitalist or Intensivist in-house 24 / 7Pharmacy and respiratory therapy available 24 / 7Travelers must be compassionate and committed to high standards of patient satisfactionOne day of orientation on ICU and one shift on Telemetry / stepdown unit will be providedScrub color is navy blueHoliday shifts required as part of rotation with permanent staffFirst to float among staff when floating is necessaryTravelers will not be assigned fresh open heart or craniotomy patientsFormer employees of CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the last year are not eligible\n \n Requirements\n
Active CA RN license required at time of considerationCurrent certifications : BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS); CCRN preferredMinimum 2 years of ICU experience required (3 years preferred, unless from a large institution with significant ICU experience)Prior travel nursing experience preferredExperience with Cerner EMR preferredMust provide two professional references : one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 yearsCopy of valid driver’s license requiredMust pass Relias Dysrhythmia exam and sterile technique tests if required by hospital policies\n Benefits\n
