Position Summary :
The Tax Accountant supports the Tax Manager and broader financial team in managing tax reporting for investment partnerships and corporate entities, while also contributing to general accounting operations. This position is responsible for preparing and reviewing complex tax returns, providing strategic tax planning, and managing compliance for a portfolio of real estate investment partnerships. The ideal candidate will have experience with Subchapter K and real estate investment entities and will work closely with internal teams and external partners.
Location : Suffern, NY (Right off Route 287, close to Garden State Parkway and Route 17)
Schedule : Full-time, Hybrid - 2 Work-from-Home Fridays per month
Key Responsibilities :
Tax Compliance & Reporting
- Prepare and organize financial records for submission to external CPA tax preparers.
- Assist the Tax Manager in managing external CPAs and overseeing the tax reporting process for partnerships and corporate entities.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation for tax filings and compliance.
Partnership Tax
Manage and track partner capital accounts, including inside and outside basis computations.Analyze and apply complex partnership tax regulations, such as those related to Section 704(b) and Section 754 basis adjustments.Review partnership agreements to ensure tax allocations and distributions are compliant with all applicable tax laws.General Accounting Support
Review and consolidate financial records from property accountants.Prepare bank reconciliations for partnership and company-level accounts.Record general journal entries as needed.Track and maintain accounts payable records for partnership and company accounts.Maintain the company’s accounting document management system, including uploading paid bills and invoices.Maintain accurate vendor files, including contracts and W-9s.Support ad hoc financial and accounting assignments as delegated by management.Additional Responsibilities :
Perform additional duties assigned by direct supervisor and upper-level management.Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.Minimum of 1-2 years of progressive experience in tax accounting, with significant time spent specializing in real estate and partnerships.Experience with both property-level and corporate-level accounting is strongly preferred.Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Microsoft Excel.Experience with Yardi is a plus.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines effectively.Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range : $100,000-$115,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
