Core Responsibilities :

As a Financial Resources Specialist you will obtain and evaluate information from Caseworkers and client records in order to confirm we make accurate and timely determinations of eligibility for the Title IV-E program. In performing these duties, your goals will be to ensure compliance with the Federal Title IV-E program requirements and to maximize Maine's reimbursement for child welfare services. Your duties will include :

• Ensuring Title IV-E eligibility information is collected and entered into Katahdin (Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System) in an accurate and timely manner.
• Performing quality assurance audits of eligibility records to ensure accuracy of Title IV-E reimbursement.
• Communicating directly with FRS staff, Office of Child and Family Services Caseworkers, Providers and other state and federal agencies in order to obtain information and ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations and policies.
• Preparing cases for and assisting in state and federal audits to ensure compliance of Title IV-E & IV-B laws.

This position may take on additional tasks, including carrying an eligibility caseload, should operational need require.

Minimum Qualifications :

A four (4) year combination of education, training, and / or progressively responsible experience performing administrative and / or complex clerical tasks including experience which demonstrates interviewing and data gathering skills as needed to form basis for judgments in eligibility determinations.

The backgrounds of well-qualified candidates should demonstrate the following competencies :

1. The ability to research, gather and analyze client information and make reimbursement eligibility determinations in accordance with established standards.

2. The ability to work in a fast paced, customer service-oriented position.

3. The ability to gain a working knowledge of multiple federal and state policies and programs in a compressed timeframe.

4. Skilled in the use of standardized desktop technology and products.
