Overview
This is a prn position at the Tunnell Cancer Infusion Center
Join Beebe Healthcare’s dedicated Oncology team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients receiving infusion therapy and cancer treatment. The Oncology Infusion Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing both direct and indirect nursing care to patients within the Oncology Infusion Unit. This compassionate and skilled professional delivers high-quality care in accordance with departmental and hospital policies, ensuring safe administration of chemotherapy, biotherapy, and other infusion treatments.
This role requires strong clinical judgment, interpretive skills, and the ability to collaborate closely with physicians, pharmacists, and the interdisciplinary care team. The Oncology Infusion Nurse plays a vital part in patient education, symptom management, and emotional support for patients and their families throughout the treatment process.
Responsibilities
Documents medications given appropriately and in a timely manner.
Facilitates, implements, and evaluates the Patient Plan of Care and outcomes in collaboration with the health care team.
Technical Skills
Demonstrates appropriate clinical skills and technical competence in providing patient care.
Critical Thinking
Demonstrates appropriate clinical judgment.
Documents patient assessments accurately and correctly within the specified time at admission, transfer, and discharge.
Assess patient safety facts and identifies those patients requiring specific safety devices.
Evaluates test results in a timely manner and notifies physician.
Reports critical values immediately.
Educational needs of patient.
Assesses educational needs and documents appropriately.
Provides appropriate written and verbal instructions.
Transcription of orders - transcribes orders accurately and timely.
Prioritization
Prioritizes responsibilities and issues, taking into account urgency and patient needs.
Seeks appropriate resources.
Uses independent thinking and problem solving.
Collects adequate and correct blood / urine specimens from patients as ordered by physicians, using proper technique and equipment.
Correctly labels specimens and processes.
Ensures appropriate delivery of specimens to the lab via courier or specimen pick up from outside agencies.
Qualifications
Must complete Point of Care Testing training as part of Department Orientation.
