Transportation Manager

We are currently looking for a full time Transportation Manager for our company in Fairborn, OH.

This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining a smooth operation of the Transportation Department. Provides general supervision of all Transportation employees and functional processes within the department. Responsible to maintain a properly staffed and trained department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Maintain effective and timely scheduling of all delivery routes and ensure proper route coverage.
  • Responsible for compliance and knowledge with Federal Department of Transportation regulations and other safety standards. Maintain fleet in a safe manner in accordance with company and governmental standards.
  • Must be on call during off duty hours and may be required to cover last minute delivery routes.
  • Must maintain communication within the transportation team and company management.
  • Enforcement of general company policies and issuance of disciplinary documentation to teammates and Management / Human Resources.
  • Strong knowledge of Drivers Handbook.
  • Knowledge of backhaul procedures.
  • Exhibit working knowledge of ELD, scanning procedures and Zebra.
  • Responsible for hiring and road testing potential route / logistics drivers.

Experience and Qualifications :

  • 2 - 3 years of proven experience in all facets of transportation management, preferably in the food distribution industry.
  • Must possess and maintain Ohio Class A CDL (manual endorsement as well).
  • Strong communication skills with proven ability to work within the framework of a team.
  • Proven experience with logistics systems and route scheduling.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Experience with Excel, Word, XATA or similar programs.
  • Must be knowledgeable with DOT regulations and compliance standards.
  • Experience in recruiting / hiring, training, motivating teammates, and resolving employee relations issues.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees, managers and customers.
