Automation Technician Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up and commission automation presses or assembly machines for production
- Set up and debug new automation as needed ; make samples for new items / customers
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair various assembly, automation, and mold equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks and complete all relevant paperwork
- Check and adjust parameters during changeovers and note changes for process updates
- Look for methods of improving efficiency and ensuring quality standards as part of the team
- Assist QA with finding and implementing corrective actions from customer rejections
- Maintain a daily electronic log for each piece of equipment and document equipment specifications
- Communicate effectively with other shifts, operators, and technicians to give and receive updates on equipment status
- Assist mold technicians with mold set-ups, emptying runners, and setting up new cell production lines; cross-train for mold machine maintenance
- Assist with training new operators on equipment functionality and procedures
- Write order requests for replenishment of necessary inventory and spare parts
- Clean automation equipment and work areas
- Replace worn equipment as part of routine maintenance
- Support production with on-call status, authorized for rotating scheduled overtime on weekends
Automation Technician Qualifications and Requirements
High School DiplomaExperience in hands-on industrial maintenance or automation experience in a manufacturing environmentStrong working knowledge of robotics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical systemsAbility to lift 35 poundsSeniority Level
