The RN Oncology Services conducts the initial patient assessment, assists in the development of treatment plan, delivers care and documents any variances in patient's condition. S / he provides nursing case management functions and generates referrals for testing or to other physicians as directed. The RN assists and / or performs procedures that are within the scope of nursing practice and works as part of a multidisciplinary team and provides input to the continuity of care. S / he will be in direct contact with adult and geriatric patients and must possess the skills to care for their physical and developmental needs.

Education
RNs hired on or after 7 / 1 / 2016 : Must graduate from a BSN program within 6 years of hire into an RN position.
Existing Staff RNs : RNs hired before 7 / 1 / 2016 are not mandated to have a BSN, but are encouraged to pursue a BSN degree.
Certification & Licensures
Active, unrestricted, Arizona RN License or valid, participating compact license - Required
BLS (American Heart Association) - Required upon date of hire
Medical Oncology : ACLS - Required
The following ONS certifications / education pertinent to clinical field of employment by December 31st of the year following date of hire :
Medical Oncology = OCN, AOCN or AOCNS – Preferred OR
Earn 12 cancer-related continuing education nursing contact hours per calendar year - Required
Breast Oncology = CBCN – Preferred OR
Earn 12 cancer-related continuing education nursing contact hours per calendar year - Required
Radiation Oncology = ONS / ONCC Radiation Therapy Certificate – Preferred OR
Earn 12 cancer-related continuing education nursing contact hours per calendar year - Required
Employee will obtain and maintain appropriate clinical competencies for the roles assigned by their departmental leader.
Experience
Minimum 1 year experience in the field of oncology- Required
Minimum 3 Years Of Acute Care Nursing Experience- Preferred
