Job Description

The Resident Support Associate provides world-class service to residents of the home. The Resident Support Associate will primarily provide confidential care support to the elderly and / or adults 18 years old and over with differing abilities who may have minor health and / or mental issues with their daily living skills, appointments, at-home activities, games and outings and provide companionship. Responsibilities listed below are not meant to be exclusive and may change to adhere to the needs of the home, county, and state regulations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Maintains confidential resident information
  • Immediately responds to resident concerns and issues
  • Identifies and escalates priority issues
  • Documents all information according to standard operating procedures
  • Recommends changes to ensure high quality residential experiences
  • Stay current with relevant County, State, and Funding Source guidelines and policies
  • Ensure compliance with all Company procedures and guidelines including but not limited to Code of Conduct and Code of Ethics
  • Stay current with relevant guidelines and policies for daily documentation
  • Ensures compliance with all Company Quality Policy procedures and guidelines
  • Meets all training requirements within 30 days of hire
  • Reports to work on time, and follows attendance guidelines
  • Conducts all assigned, but not limited to, job duties in a timely and productive manner
  • Performs all job duties according to Residential Support Associate policies and procedures
  • Completes other duties as assigned

Mandatory Skills & Qualifications :

  • Must be 18 years of age or older and legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of resident care principles and practices
  • Disciplined, self-motivated & reliable; able to stay focused on a task and work independently; motivated to perform quality work; diligent about arriving to work on time and completing tasks that are assigned in a timely manner
  • Possesses a positive attitude with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact and build strong working relationships with residents as well as peers at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work in an individual and team environment and adapt to changing workload and circumstances effectively; able to respond to new information and situations quickly
  • Professionalism : conducts themselves in a professional manner in all interactions with members of the Abrela House Adult Family Home team, residents and associates
  • Child & Adult CPR / First Aid

    • Necessary Education & Experience :

  • At least one year of elder care and / or care of adults with differing abilities with or without minor health concerns and / or mental health issues
  • Previous work in a contact center within the health care industry is preferred but appropriate contact center experience in other fields may be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a customer service environment specialized in providing an exceptional customer experience.

    • Desired Characteristics :

  • High School Diploma or GED, some college course work preferred
  • Previous work in an elderly or persons with differing abilities environment is preferred
  • Knowledge of various illnesses such as Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Mental Health Issues, Behavioral Issues, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates initiative and willingness to continuously improve processes

    • Physical Requirements & Working Conditions :

  • Ability to listen and speak on the telephone and write simultaneously.
  • Ability to operate telephone system and computer keyboard and printer.
  • Ability to lift and move 20-40 pounds on an occasional basis (up to 25% of time).
  • Ability to grasp with both hands; pinch with thumb and forefinger; turn with hand / arm; reach above shoulder height.
