Overview
Senior Transmission Line Designer 1 - Grid role at Sargent & Lundy. This position is based on a hybrid work schedule requiring in-office work 3 days per week at the Sargent & Lundy office in Peachtree Corners, GA.
Responsibilities
- Work in a project team environment with engineers and other electrical and structural designers and / or engineers in the development of transmission / distribution line drawings / designs.
- Apply computer-aided drafting / design skills while receiving hands-on training in 3D design software environments, such as AutoCAD 3D and / or MicroStation.
- Develop transmission line plans and profile drawings, transmission / distribution line hardware details, material lists, and grounding details.
- Create master sketches to scale showing relation of proposed installations to existing facilities with exact specifications and dimensions. Interpret input from engineering specifications, weight and volume calculations, and stress factors.
- Participate in walkdowns at client facilities to gather information for design projects.
- Interface with vendors and construction contractors and explain drawings to support design adjustments.
Qualifications
Essential Skills And Experience
An Associate's Degree in drafting, or a high school diploma and 1 or more years drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience.Proficiency in AutoCAD.10 or more years of experience in design / drafting of Transmission Lines.Knowledge of techniques, tools, and principles for producing technical plans, drawings, and models.Knowledge of practical application of engineering science and technology, including relating equipment to a technical design.Ability to visualize parts in 3D without computer aid.Ability to multi-task across projects.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Attention to detail.Valued But Not Required Skills And Experience
Experience using Microstation, PLS-CADD, AutoCAD Civil 3D and / or GIS software.Award-Winning Benefits
