About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Lab Manager to oversee clinical research laboratory operations. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and quality across specimen collection, processing, storage, and shipment. The ideal candidate is both a skilled phlebotomist and a confident leader who thrives in a fast-paced clinical research environment.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Oversight
- Lead daily laboratory operations in compliance with GCP, IATA, CLIA, OSHA, and company SOPs.
- Supervise and mentor laboratory and phlebotomy staff, providing ongoing training and feedback.
- Uphold a culture of quality, accuracy, and patient safety.
Study Oversight & Protocol Compliance
Review study protocols to ensure correct specimen handling and documentation.Maintain audit-ready processes and support sponsor audits and monitoring visits.Laboratory Operations & Specimen Management
Perform and oversee phlebotomy, specimen processing, labeling, storage, and shipment.Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with sponsor and regulatory requirements.Manage lab inventory, equipment calibration, and maintenance.Quality Control & Documentation
Conduct quality audits and ensure proper completion of collection and temperature logs.Respond promptly to monitor and auditor queries.Collaboration & Communication
Serve as the main contact for sponsors, CROs, and auditors for lab-related activities.Partner with study teams to ensure timely and compliant specimen management.Training & Continuous Improvement
Develop and deliver training for lab and clinic staff.Implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and compliance.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Laboratory Science, Biology, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).Current phlebotomy certification (CPT, NHA, or equivalent) required.Minimum 3 years of lab experience in a clinical or research setting, including 1–2 years in a leadership role.Strong understanding of GCP, CLIA, OSHA, IATA , and related regulations.CPR / BLS certification preferred.Skills & Attributes
