Job Description

General Purpose :

The Scale Operator is responsible for all facets of the operations of a truck weighing process. The duties include, but are not limited to, weighing trucks, collecting and reviewing manifests, recording all information in a computerized weighing system, running reports, sampling inbound materials, and filing. The reporting and filing systems are primarily computerized.

Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions) :

Weighing inbound and outbound trucks using a scale system.
Collects and reviews manifests of inbound trucks as well as recording all information in a computerized weighing system.
Running reports, sampling inbound materials as well as filing. The reporting and filing systems are primarily computerized.
Ensure accurate and complete documentation of all inbound and outbound scale transactions.
Take samples of inbound material if required.
Maintain order and housekeeping of scales and scale house.
Complete daily reports, maintain logs, spreadsheets and other reports, as assigned.
Perform related work and additional duties as requested / assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Basic Required Qualifications :

High school diploma or GED

Experience in working with computerized scale systems and other similar software and equipment.

Preferred Qualifications :

Ability to communicate with a wide range of customers, vendors, and team workers.

Ability to work independently in a safe and efficient manner and to follow safety policies and procedures.

Physical and Mental Demands

Ability to use general office equipment including phones, computers, copiers, etc.

Ability to work in a busy, often distracting work environment.

Ability to lift up to 20 pounds unassisted on an occasional basis.

Ability to sit for long periods of time.

Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time.

Ability to work outdoors in hot and cold temperatures.
