Job Description

General Purpose :

The Scale Operator is responsible for all facets of the operations of a truck weighing process. The duties include, but are not limited to, weighing trucks, collecting and reviewing manifests, recording all information in a computerized weighing system, running reports, sampling inbound materials, and filing. The reporting and filing systems are primarily computerized.

Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions) :

  • Weighing inbound and outbound trucks using a scale system.
  • Collects and reviews manifests of inbound trucks as well as recording all information in a computerized weighing system.
  • Running reports, sampling inbound materials as well as filing. The reporting and filing systems are primarily computerized.
  • Ensure accurate and complete documentation of all inbound and outbound scale transactions.
  • Take samples of inbound material if required.
  • Maintain order and housekeeping of scales and scale house.
  • Complete daily reports, maintain logs, spreadsheets and other reports, as assigned.
  • Perform related work and additional duties as requested / assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Basic Required Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience in working with computerized scale systems and other similar software and equipment.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of customers, vendors, and team workers.
  • Ability to work independently in a safe and efficient manner and to follow safety policies and procedures.
  • Physical and Mental Demands

  • Ability to use general office equipment including phones, computers, copiers, etc.
  • Ability to work in a busy, often distracting work environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds unassisted on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work outdoors in hot and cold temperatures.
