About this Position
The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) supports the grant-related activities of faculty in the arts and humanities, social sciences, and sciences. This position is part of a team that provides support for the grant-related activities of CAS faculty. The selected individual will develop expertise to support faculty from a subset of departments. The main duties will include 1) prepare and review proposal budgets and grant proposal materials for submission to federal, state, and private agencies for external funding, and 2) negotiate awards, manage grant accounts, and prepare financial reports.
Position and title are determined by the selected candidate's level of experience and education, as well as available funding.
Required Qualifications
High School / GED High school diploma / GED
Four years of experience in sponsored programs administration or another closely related field
Post-secondary education may be substituted for experience (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
Sponsored Programs Specialist I ($40,000- $47,000, non-exempt or exempt)
High school diploma / GED
Four years of experience in sponsored programs administration or another closely related field
Post-secondary education may be substituted for experience
Sponsored Programs Specialist II ($45,000- $52,000)
High school / GED
Six years of experience in sponsored programs administration or another closely related field
Post-secondary education may be substituted for experience
Demonstrated ability / desire to proactively collaborate professionally
Knowledge of grants and contracts regulations, budget development, technical reporting, proposal submissions, etc.
Sponsored Programs Coordinator ($50,000- $58,000)
High school / GED
Eight years of experience in sponsored programs administration or another closely related field
Post-secondary education may be substituted for experience
Completion of training programs as defined by the department
Enhanced knowledge of grants and contracts regulations, budget development, technical reporting, proposal submission, etc.
Demonstrated ability to provide training on proposals development and grant fiscal and regulatory compliance
Senior Sponsored Programs Coordinator ($58,000- $68,500)
High school / GED
Ten years of experience in sponsored programs administration or another closely related field
Post-secondary education may be substituted for experience
Certifications, Registrations, and / or Licenses :
Membership and active participation in professional organizations, such as the National Council of University Research Administration (NCURA), Society of Research Administrators International (SRAI), or National Organization of Research Development Professionals (NORDP), and Professional certification in grants, contracts, or research administration (., Certified Research Administrator (CRA), Certified Pre-Award Research Administrator (CPRA), Certified Financial Research Administrator (CFRA)), will be required once employment begins.
Skills, Proficiencies, and / or Knowledge :
Knowledge obtained by a combination of specialized training and experience is desired. Demonstrated proficiency in time management, task prioritization, problem solving, and effective communication (written and oral). Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Excellent organizational and record keeping skills with attention to detail. Proficient with MS Excel, Outlook, Word, and Adobe Acrobat. Demonstrated interest / ability to learn new programs and processes.
Preferred Qualifications
Other Professional Degree
Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Management, Research Administration, or related fields. Additional sponsored programs administration experience.
Ten years of experience in sponsored programs administration or Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Management, Research Administration, or related fields and six or more years of experience in sponsored programs administration.
Certifications, Registrations, and / or Licenses :
Membership and active participation in professional organizations such as the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA), Society of Research Administrators International (SRAI), or National Organization of Research Development Professionals (NORDP) Professional certification in grants, contracts, or research administration (.
