Job Description : Role Synopsis

The Frac Hit Mitigation (FHM) Lead Technician is accountable for designing, implementing, and executing the Eagle Ford’s FHM program. This role ensures wells and facilities are safely prepared, monitored, and returned to production post-frac through proactive planning, system building, and real-time operational oversight. The FHM Lead uses data and analytics to drive decisions, enforces safety leadership at every step, and manages vendor and contract resources to deliver efficient, standardized, and safe operations.

Key Accountabilities

Program Development & Data Management

  • Build, maintain, and continuously improve systems that track all FHM actions and progress.
  • Develop and maintain PI dashboards to monitor frac hit conditions in real time.
  • Use data, alarms, and reporting to identify anomalies, guide decision-making, and recommend improvements.
  • Capture lessons learned and update SOPs, procedures, and tools to drive program standardization.

FHM Preparation

  • Partner with Operations, Automation, Maintenance and Production Engineering to optimize scheduling of FHM prep work.
  • Create and track Work Management (WM) and general scheduling actions required to safely monitor wells.
  • Partner with Operations for shut ins and securing of wells and / or facilities for FHM per SOPs.
  • Coordinate with Production Engineering to establish alarms to alert responsible parties of boundary condition exceedances.
  • During FHM

  • Monitor wells, PI dashboards, and alarms for concerns during frac operations.
  • Investigate anomalies and initiate corrective actions.
  • Oversee equipment inspections and repairs during Frac Hit downtime, including flowline chokes, liquid chokes, and dump valves.
  • Ensure communication and alignment with PE’s, Foremen, and operations teams.
  • Post-Frac / Return to Production (RTP)

  • Schedule and oversee installation of temporary flowback equipment where it is required.
  • Support the Production Foreman in managing flowback operations.
  • Release flowback operations efficiently when sand / solid metrics fall below tolerance.
  • Oversee safe RTP directly into facilities.
  • Monitor and report performance, escalating recommendations such as monitoring cadence or if well interventions is needed.
  • Leadership & Resource Management

  • Lead and oversee contract Flowback Operators, ensuring competency in BPX policies and safe work practices.
  • Manage bpx, vendor and contractor resources, setting clear expectations for execution quality and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with Control of Work (COW) requirements for all FHM activities.
  • Act as the safety lead, setting the standard for hazard recognition, risk management, and incident prevention.
  • Partner closely with PE’s, Foremen, and field leadership to align on schedules, SI’s, and program improvements.
  • Accountability & Impact

  • Deliver safe and efficient frac hit mitigation operations across the asset.
  • Standardize processes to ensure readiness, minimize downtime, and reduce risk.
  • Drive continuous improvement by feeding back learnings, data, and recommendations into the FHM program.
  • Enable faster, safer, and more reliable return to production after frac hits.
  • Essential Experience and Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g., petroleum technology, engineering, or industrial operations) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in oil and gas operations, with at least 2 years in flowback, well monitoring, or frac hit mitigation.
  • Proven experience leading field operations, managing contractors, and coordinating with cross-functional teams (Operations, Production Engineering, Automation, Maintenance).
  • Strong working knowledge of wellsite equipment including flowline chokes, dump valves, and temporary flowback systems.
  • Proficiency in using PI or similar real-time data systems to monitor well performance and identify anomalies.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement SOPs, manage work orders, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Familiarity with Control of Work (COW) processes and safety leadership practices.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to lead teams and influence across departments.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, field-based environment with a flexible schedule, including on-call support during frac operations.
  • How much do we pay (Base)? $90,000 - $106,000

    Note that the pay range listed for this position is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.
