Sr. Logistics Specialist
The Sr. Logistics Specialist is responsible for achieving delivery, quality, and cost objectives within transportation operations (inbound and outbound shipping activities) between suppliers, distribution centers, and customers. This individual acts as a liaison between carriers, distribution centers, customer service, finance, and other internal clients to ensure logistics processes meet business needs. The Sr. Logistics Specialist is expected to perform all aspects of data analysis (compilation, analysis, insights, reporting) to optimize freight expenses and inform decisions. This individual plays a key role in supporting business strategy via operations coordination, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement efforts.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Business & Logistics Strategy Execution
- Responsible for contributions to logistics analysis, financials, and execution of inbound, outbound, and transfer freight expenses globally within multiple transportation methods (Small Parcel, Less-Than-Truckload, Truckload, Air Freight, Ocean Freight, etc.)
- Analyze and recommend logistics solutions to optimize cost, transportation modes, routing, equipment, or frequency efficiencies
- Partner with supervisor to translate business needs and priorities into actionable Logistics and Trade Compliance strategies
- Ensure compliance with all logistics rules and regulations in relation to Teton operations
- Document and develop SOPs for internal logistics processes and for assigned factories
Data Analytics & Reporting
Analyze, report, and act upon information and insights regarding logistics financial and operational performanceCompile, prepare, and analyze Import data from 3rd party sites to support logistics processesAnalyze Import cost, transit times, and other critical data points to support the businessAccurately load and monitor tracking numbers, transit times, and other critical information into the ERP systemAssist supervisor in various data and analytics projects as assignedProduction & Vendor Partnership / Communication
Assist 3PL distribution center operations to ensure achievement of cost, productivity, accuracy, and timeliness objectivesPartner with Production team to understand when goods / products will ship from assigned factoriesParticipate in carrier management processes, such as selection, qualification, or performance evaluationPoint of escalation for freight forwarders, customs brokers, and trucking partnersAssist rest of Logistics team with operational processes such as providing receiving information to Distribution Centers for efficient receiving of goods, arranging transportation for assigned factories, and confirming the accuracy of internal shipping documentationSkills & Knowledge Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Operations, Logistics, Business, or Data Analytics is required5+ years of experience in Logistics or Supply Chain field is requiredStrong analytical understanding and capacity to perform data entry, data export, data cleansing, and data analysisMust be well-versed in Microsoft Office suite (particularly Excel)Experience utilizing an ERP system on a daily / weekly basis (i.e. NetSuite, SAP)Excellent communication skills via responsive and collaborative verbal, written, and in-person communication; ability to communicate with multiple stakeholders (external vendors / partners, cross-functional teams, senior leadership, etc.)Proven track record of decision-making, cost reduction, problem-solving, and process improvementAnalytical curiosity to uncover new methods of transportation concepts to drive resultsAbility to learn and become self-sufficient with data warehouse query toolsKnowledge of global trade compliance and INCOTERMS is strongly preferredAchievement orientation ability to consistently deliver results that meet or exceed standard expectationsCollaboration ability to work well with others in a cooperative and supportive manner to achieve shared goalsInnovation possess a strong focus on identifying and implementing new ideas, contributing to a culture of curiosity, and continuous improvementAccountability ability to uphold responsibilities, communicate progress, and execute tasks in a timely manner and with limited guidanceWorking Conditions
