KRMC Trauma and Stroke Registrar
GENERAL SUMMARY :
Responsible for trauma and stroke data abstracting, data entry and collection, creating and generating reports and data summaries to meet regional, state and hospital requirements.

7. Assists with regional trauma data collection, education, and implementation.
8. Works with the Information Technology department to maintain the data collection system and implement upgrades.

10. Ensures compliance with National Trauma Data Bank (NTDB).
11. Works in collaboration with the Trauma Coordinator and Stroke Coordinator.
12. Evaluates current trends in injury mechanism and advises administrative team regarding needs for prevention initiatives.
13. Attends regional and statewide Trauma and Registry board meetings as required.
14. Attends courses or webinars for Trauma Registry.
15. Attends regional, statewide, and quarterly Stroke meetings as required.
16. Attends course and webinars for Get with Guidelines Registry.
17. Prepares written progress reports for State and Accrediting body as directed.
18. Facilitates the trauma or stroke peer review process by initiating contact with Trauma or Stroke Coordinator when indicated.
19. Supports and is involved in the Medical Center's quality improvement initiatives.
20. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
21. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.
22. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :
1. Maintains clinical competency as required for the unit including but not limited to age-specific competencies relative to patient’s growth and developmental needs, annual skill competency verification and mandatory education and competencies.
2. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and database management preferred.
3. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.
4. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
5. Ability to perform crucial conversations with desired outcomes.
6. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel and medical staff.
7. Ability to problem solve and engage independent critical thinking skills.
8. Ability to maintain confidentiality relevant to sensitive information.
9. Ability to prioritize work demands and work with minimal supervision.
10. Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
High school diploma or equivalency required. Associate degree in health-related field preferred. Experience working in trauma preferred. Coding experience desirable. Two (2) years of experience collecting, processing, or maintaining data / information in a health-related field preferred.
OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS :
American Trauma Society Registry Course required within first year of hire. Abbreviated Injury Scoring (AIS) course required within 1 year of hire.
