Job Description
American Traveler seeks an experienced RN for a Level III NICU position in California, requiring a CA RN license and neonatal intensive care experience.
Responsibilities
Position is in a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) within an acute care setting20-bed NICU caring for infants with congenital abnormalities, feeders / growers, and those requiring mechanical ventilationPatient ratios are 1 : 1 and 1 : 2, depending on acuityUses Cerner EMR for charting12-hour day shifts with every other weekend requiredCharge nurse present on unit but typically does not take patientsNo floating requiredMust be able to read and interpret monitor strips and titrate dripsRespiratory therapists, neonatologists, and pharmacy staff are available on-site 24 / 7Staff wear navy scrubsExpected to work holidays in rotation with permanent staffFloor-specific orientation includes three shiftsMust successfully complete a pass / fail test on sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes during orientationMay be required to pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam prior to offerCandidates who have been directly employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year are not eligibleNo nurse aides are present on the unit; team consists of RNs, charge nurse, RT, and pharmacy staffRequirements
Active CA RN license is required at time of consideration; pending licenses will not be acceptedMinimum of 2 years NICU experience with at least 1 year in Level III or higher NICUCertifications required : BLS, NRP, NIHSSMust provide two recent professional references, including one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 yearsMust be able to read and interpret cardiac monitor stripsCopy of valid driver’s license requiredBenefits
