PAY GRADE : Non-exempt

FUNCTION : The Exercise Program Specialist is responsible for implementing independent exercise programming for people with disabilities and older adults, planning and executing group exercise programming, and implementation of small group personal training under the supervision of the Exercise Program Manager.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES :

Service Delivery

  • Function as part of a team to develop and implement comprehensive health and wellness programs for participants that is directed toward reducing health risks and improving health status.
  • Assist participants as needed with exercises, including transfers, set up on adapted exercise equipment, and guidance on appropriate exercises.
  • Monitor participant technique and progress with exercises utilizing adaptive technology to maximize participant engagement in
  • Develop and lead adapted group fitness
  • Develop and lead exercise and educational
  • Demonstrate initiative and a level of expertise in use of fitness principles and technology to serve as a resource to staff and
  • Demonstrate understanding of injury and disease functions common to
  • Monitor cardiovascular, respiratory, and muscular changes due to exercise including pain, fatigue, and skin
  • Assist with administrative tasks, such as retention calling and goal achievement, to maximize membership adherence and program growth.
  • Assist with recruiting participants and implementing small group personal training in combination with the Exercise Program

Documentation

  • Maintain accurate, compliant participant records in accordance with defined deadlines and
  • Complete all monthly, quarterly, and annual paperwork by assigned

  • Supervise and provide clinical guidance to students in occupational / physical therapy, exercise science, and related

  • MINIMUM LEVEL OF PREPARATION AND TRAINING NORMALLY REQUIRED :

  • Degree in health-related Field (i.e. OTA, PTA, Chiropractic, Exercise Science, Personal Trainer)
  • Certification / Registration or Current Missouri License, where applicable
  • At least one year of exper i ence preferred
  • COMMUNICATION EXPECTATIONS :

    Attendance of staff meetings to review weekly and monthly r eports and project timelines. Daily use of email, document contacts, and other effo r ts.

    WORKING HOURS and CONDITIONS :

    Hours of work are during open business hours of the gym : Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 9 : 00 a.m . to 5 : 00 p.m. and Tuesday, Thursday, 8 : 00 a.m. to 6 p.m., 40 hours per week. Opening and closing of the gym will be coordinated with the Exercise Program Manager and may require addi t ional 30 - 60 minutes outside of open business hours.

    Occasional flexibility with additional professional trainings and meetings as needed.

    This position operates i n a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment , includi n g but not l imited to computers, office copiers, printers, and phone systems.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job .

    This role requires the employee to stand an d walk for prolonged periods of time. Th e emp l oyee may spend cons i derable time stooping, kneeling, and crouching while assisting participants on and off machines. This role may require moving heavy equipment. The e m ployee must be able to lift SO pounds. Moving, lifting, or transferring of participants may involve lifting up to 100 pounds with secondary person or lift system. T hi s role also requires use of hands to handle or feel and talk or hea r .

    TRAVEL :

    Based out of Paraquad's office in St. Louis City, MO, this position requires travel within 30 miles of the office and further as necessary.
