As an Assistant Produce Manager, you help customers make healthy food choices by providing excellent customer service through managing and leading one of the busiest teams in our store.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Produce Manager in managing and merchandising the department for maximum productivity and profit.
  • Responsible for ordering and inventory controls, product quality, and supervision of the Produce team.
  • Coordinate merchandising and sales through ongoing planning, direction, goal setting, communication, and teamwork.
  • Maintain freshness standards throughout the department by proper receiving, processing, packaging, pricing, signage, displaying, and rotation of a complete variety of items.
  • Assist in leading a team to deliver the finest quality of product, highest level of service, and the greatest customer experience.
  • Assist in hiring, teaching, training, and developing the Produce team.
  • Unload and sort through store deliveries, operate and maintain produce equipment.
  • Ensure the execution of all company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines / regulations, and validate that other Produce team members follow these procedures.
  • Join a fast-paced environment and contribute to a positive work atmosphere.

Qualifications

  • Be at least 18 years old and have a basic knowledge of math, weights and measures.
  • Dependable and reliable with the ability to work a flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Outgoing and friendly demeanor with a positive attitude and ability to interact with customers.
  • Good communication skills and ability to take direction and participate in a team environment.
  • Perform general housekeeping in the department; clean and sanitize work areas (tables, floor, walls, cases, cooler, freezer, etc.).
  • Adhere to safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations including COOL, and maintain a Food Handlers permit.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, climb; lift and move heavy objects up to 50 lbs., and operate within an 3–foot range for long periods.
  • Ability to operate a pallet jack to move pallets up to 20 feet.
